Milwaukee Brewers rookie sensation, P Jacob Misiorowski was named to the MLB All-Star NL roster on Friday because Chicago Cubs starter Matthew Boyd is unable to pitch. Some Philadelphia Phillies players have been vocal in their opposition to including a kid with only five Major League starts under his belt but Covino & Rich, live from the MLB All-Star Village in Atlanta and filling in for Dan Patrick, think the Phillies should be embracing the future instead of complaining.
Rich Davis: “The kid (Jacob Misiorowski) has five starts. It’s a little premature but why would baseball not hype up their young dudes? Every other sport does it. You’re telling me that…all eyes are on fricking Bronny James or whatever young NBA guy gets a shot, right?”
Steve Covino: “Hey, if “The Miz” is the next guy, if he’s the next Paul Skenes and they’re confident in that, I’ve got no problem with it. If he’s the Brewers superstar that everybody’s super-pumped about it, let the rookie shine, let him do his thing. He now has to deliver.”
