Tyrese Haliburton’s Choke Sign Could’ve Been Embarrassing

In a wild end to regulation play in last night’s NBA Eastern Conference Finals, Tyrese Haliburton hit a long jumper that he thought had won the game and he paid tribute to Reggie Miller by imitating the choke sign Reggie dropped on Spike Lee and Knicks fans in 1994. But it turned out his toe was on the 3-pt line, so the shot only tied the game and sent it into overtime rendering his choke sign premature. Dan reacts to the instant classic and wonders how bad the fallout would have been for Haliburton if they had failed to finish the job in overtime.

Dan Patrick: “Keep in mind when Reggie (Miller) hit his shots, and that was 1994, did the choke sign to Spike Lee; Pacers lost that series. It would have been really embarrassing if you do a choke sign and you tie the game, you go into overtime, and then you don’t win…But, you know the Knicks; they were up by 17. They choked. They did.”
